The Roycefield Rapids Swim Team
The Roycefield Rapids Swim Team is open ONLY to FULL SEASON MEMBERS
Want to know more about the Roycefield Rapids? Some facts….
What are we?
The Roycefield Rapids Swim Team has a long, storied history. In fact, one of the reasons the Swim Club was formed more than 50 years ago was due to the interest of families in forming a Swim Team for the Roycefield children. In 2014, the Rapids went undefeated in our regular season meets. More than 1/3 of the Roycefield Swim Club’s member families are part of the swim team.
We are in part of the New Jersey Swimming and Diving Conference. The Conference is divided into three leagues: A, B, and C with a total of 31 teams. This year, the A League has Red, White, and Blue divisions; we are in the A League/Red Division (because of our great 2014 season).
Am I eligible?
The team is open to all members ages 5 to 18 who are able to swim at least one length of the pool. Swimmers compete in one of five age groups: 8 & under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, and 15-18. The league has a diving conference but Roycefield does not have a diving team. Roycefield Swim Club members are encouraged to join the Rapids team.
When are practices scheduled?
Team practices start on the Tuesday after Memorial Day and are held on Mon, Tues, Thurs & Fri until school ends. During school, practices are held between 3:30 pm & 7:00 pm. When school is finished the practice groups move to mornings (Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri) between 7:30 am & 11:00 am.
What meets do we compete in?
The team competes in 8 dual meets, League Championships, Conference Championships, and the Roycefield Sprint Meet. There are also special meets in which some team members may participate. The Dual Meets are held on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings beginning in the middle of June and ending in July. League Championships are traditionally held on the last Saturday in July and the Conference Championships are traditionally held the following Tuesday and Wednesday. The Team runs the Roycefield Sprint Meet in which all team members and PARENTS are expected to participate. This one-day meet raises several thousand dollars for the team, and is the only fundraiser for the team.
What does the Booster Club do?
The team is supported by a Booster Club who assesses a registration fee (per swimmer basis), which covers, coaching salary and end-of-season bonuses, a team gift (t-shirt, gym bag, etc. with the team name), entry fees to league championships, the end-of-season picnic, and miscellaneous team expenses. Parents are required to be active in the Booster Club by performing one of the many jobs it takes to run the meets, such as timers, officials, food sellers, scorers, ribbon writers, 50/50 sellers, or announcer. Parents are required to work at least five dual meets, as well as the Roycefield Sprint meet.
All children of the Club are encouraged to join the swim team. Sign-up information is available by clicking on the link above. Please contact email@example.com with further questions.
