Ownership and Membership Information


There are five categories of membership in RSC.

  • Full Season Family Ownership: one or two adults cohabitating with dependent children
  • Couple Membership: Two cohabitating adults, 18 years of age or older
  • Single Membership: One adult, 18 years of age or older
  • Senior Couple Membership: Two cohabitating adults, 55 years of age or older.
  • Senior Single Membership: One adult, 55 years of age or older
  • August Family Ownership: one or two adults cohabitating with dependent children from August 1 through the end of the pool season

Application Process


The first step in becoming a member of RSC is to fill out an application.

A $50 non-refundable application fee must accompany the application. Please mail your application with fee enclosed to:

Because there is a limit on the number of owners, when necessary Full Season Family and August Family ownership applications will be placed on the Wait List in the order the application is received. As families resign their ownership, applications are moved up the Wait List. When your name is at the top of the Wait List, you will be offered ownership.
There is no waiting time for Couple, Single, and Senior memberships; the membership chairperson will contact you after your application is received.
When your family is on the Wait List, please remember to keep us updated with any change in your contact information; especially e-mail addresses as that is our primary method of communication. Any questions can be addressed to membership@roycefield.org.

Fees


There are three types of plans:

  • Full Season Family Ownership – Requires the purchase of a $1000 ownership share, which is refunded after the family resigns from the pool. This Purchase grants you the title of Ownership as you have a vested interest in the club property. As an owner, it is not subject to NJ Sales Tax.
  • August Family Ownership – Requires the purchase of a $500 ownership share, which is refunded after the family resigns from the club. This Purchase grants you the title of Owner as you have a vested interest in the facility and the property. As an owner, it is not subject to NJ Sales Tax.
  • Non-Family – Couples, Single, and Senior Memberships; this type does not require the purchase of an ownership share and as such is subject to NJ Sales Tax.

Ownership Share (applies only to Full Season Family and August Family Ownerships)


Full Season Family Ownership requires the purchase of a $1000 ownership share and August Family Ownership requires the purchase of a $500 ownership share. This purchase grants you the title of Owner as you have a vested interest in the club. August Family Ownerships must pay the $500 share in full. For Full Season Family Ownership, the bond can be paid in one or two payments, as described below:

Plan 1: Year 1 – $1000:  Year 2  –  $0

Plan 2: Year 1 – $525: Year 2 – $525 (includes non-refundable $50 split payment fee)

When you resign, the original ownership share will be refunded to you when a new owner replaces you and submits their ownership share payment. This process occurs in the spring.

Supplemental Work Service Fee


All owners and members (except seniors) must pay the annual Supplemental Work Service (SWS) fee. This fee is subject to a full credit if an owner/member performs defined types of club-related work activities. Those people who choose not to perform work activities will forfeit their SWS fee for the year. This money is used to hire contractors for maintenance work that is not performed by pool owners/ members.

For more information on the SWS fee, please see additional information under “Membership” on the website. The most common types of work that qualify for the credit are preparing the grounds for opening and closing each season, and participating in social committee activities.

Other work activities may qualify toward the work bond rebate. Please speak to an RSC Board member or the manager to discuss such options.

Resigning or Changing Membership Type


If you would like to resign your ownership/membership or change your membership type, please notify the Membership Chairperson via email to membership@roycefield.org or send a letter indicating your resignation or change. Mail the letter to Roycefield Swim Club, P.O. Box 5874, Hillsborough, NJ 08844. If you are an owner, you will be refunded your ownership share when a new owner submits their ownership share. If you are an owner and will be moving, please include your new to ensure receipt of your ownership.

Leave of Absence


It is the policy of Roycefield Swim Club to allow current owners to take a leave of absence (LOA) for one (1) season without relinquishing their ownership. The LOA must be requested before the due date of annual maintenance fees. If the owner decides not to return the following season, it will be deemed a resignation (see above). The LOA status policy is for one season only, and may be extended only at the discretion of the Executive Board.

To initiate a LOA status, please complete the Leave of Absence Application and send it via email to the Membership Chairperson at membership@roycefield.org . You can also mail it to Roycefield Swim Club, PO Box 5874, Hillsborough, NJ 08844.

HOLD Status for Wait List Familes


Applicants on the Wait List can defer acceptance of ownership only once when they are offered ownership and requires a $250 deposit to maintain your place on the Wait List. Applicants on HOLD will be maintained at the top of the Wait List. The payment and HOLD status request form should be submitted to the treasurer within 20 days of original ownership offer. They will be offered ownership again an owner resigns. This may occur any time after September 15 of their HOLD year. If an applicant accepts ownership, the $250 deposit will be credited towards their ownership share. If the applicant does not accept ownership when offered, their $250 deposit will be refunded.
