Membership Information
There are three categories of membership in RSC.
- Family (adults, plus dependent children 21 or younger living at home)
- Couples (2 cohabitating persons, 18 yrs of age or older)
- Single (one person 18 yrs of age or older)
Application Process
The first step in becoming a member of RSC is to fill out an application. A $50.00 non-refundable application fee must accompany the application. Please mail your application with fee enclosed to : Roycefield Swim Club, P.O. Box 5874, Hillsborough, NJ 08844

Because there are a fixed number of (family) members, Family applications will be placed at the bottom of a waiting list in the order it is received. As existing owners leave, your name will be moved up the waiting list. When your name is at the top of the waiting list, you will be offered membership. Currently, the waiting time to be offered Family membership is 1 to 2 years. Generally, there is no waiting time for Couple and Single memberships. You will be contacted by the membership chairperson after your application is received.
While your Family is on the waiting list, please remember to keep us updated with any change in your contact information, especially e-mail addresses as that is our main avenue of communication with members. Any questions/concerns can be addressed to membership@roycefield.org.
August Membership
August membership is an option offered by RSC to families on the Wait List before they are invited to become full members. August membership extends from August 1 through Labor Day weekend. To be eligible for August membership, your family must be on the Wait list before July 1 of the current year. More detailed information on August membership will be sent to wait list families in early spring.
Membership Fees
There are two types of Membership plans:
- Family - RSC is limited to 175 member families at any time. All family memberships require the purchase of a $1000 bond which is refunded when the family resigns from the pool. Purchase of this bond grants you the title of Owner as you have a vested interest in the facility and the property.
- Non-Family - Singles and Couples; this type of membership is limited to a total of 20 people.

Ownership Bond (applies only to Family Memberships)
All family memberships require the purchase of a $1000 bond which is refunded when the family resigns from the pool. Purchase of this bond grants you the title of Owner as you have a vested interest in the facility. The bond can be paid in a lump sum or as two payments, as described below:
Plan 1: Year 1 -- $1000 : Year 2 -- $0 (no interest charge)
Plan 2: Year 1 -- $525 : Year 2 -- $525 (includes non-refundable interest charge)
The money is retained by RSC as long as you are an owner in good standing. When you resign, the original bond principle is refunded to you (these bonds do not pay interest to owners). Technically, your bond cannot be refunded until a new owner replaces you. Bonds are refunded after incoming families submit their bond payment. This process may take anywhere from eight to twelve weeks from the time a family resignation is submitted.
Annual Work Bond
All members must pay an annual $120 work bond. This fee is subject to a full rebate if an owner performs defined types of pool club related work activities. Those people who choose not to perform such work activities will forfeit their work bond for the year. This money is used to hire people for maintenance work that is not performed by pool owners.
See owner info… for more info on work bonds. The most common types of work that qualify for the rebate are preparing the pool grounds for opening and closing the season, and participating on the social committee.
Other work activities may qualify toward the work bond rebate. Please speak to an RSC Board Member or the Pool Manager to discuss such options.
Resigning From RSC
When you resign from RSC, notify the Membership Chairperson at: membership@roycefield.org or write a letter indicating when you will be resigning. Mail the letter to the RSC Treasurer at: Roycefield Swim Club, PO Box 5874, Hillsborough, NJ 08844. The next Family on the Wait List will be contacted to fill your spot. As soon as they accept and submit their bond, yours will be refunded to you. Please note that this process may take 8 to 10 weeks. If you are a Family member in the process of moving, please include your new address so that the Ownership Bond can be sent to the correct address.
Leave of Absence (LOA)
It is the policy of Roycefield Swim Club to allow current owners to take a leave of absence for one season without relinquishing their ownership. The LOA must be requested before the due date of annual maintenance fees. Owners on LOA status are placed at the top of the Wait List. They will be asked to rejoin RSC as current members resign. This may occur anytime after September 15 of their LOA year. If the owner decides not to return to RSC the following season, their ownership bond will be refunded in the same manner as a resignation (see above). The LOA status policy is for one season only. It may be extended only at the discretion of the Executive Board.

HOLD Status for Wait List Families
It is the policy of Roycefield Swim Club to allow applicants on the Wait List the ability to defer acceptance of ownership for one season only. Payment and HOLD status request form should be submitted to the treasurer within 20 days of original ownership offer. A HOLD status requires a $250.00 deposit to maintain your place on the Wait List. Applicants on HOLD will be placed at the top of the Wait List. They will be offered membership again as current members resign. This may occur anytime after September 15 of their HOLD year. If an applicant accepts membership, their $250.00 deposit will be credited towards their ownership bond. If the applicant does not accept ownership when offered, $200.00 of their deposit will be refunded.
